Get directions to or from Plasau.
Plasau sits on a peaceful hillside between the ancient and tranquil villages of Dinas Mawddwy and Llanymawddwy in the beautiful upper reaches of the Dyfi valley (one of Wales’ best kept secrets).
At Plasau there is a wide range of things to do, whatever the weather. From sitting on the sun deck with a glass of something or curled up in the conservatory with a good book to taking a walk along one of our many local footpaths surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
For our more active guests activities available in the area include clay pigeon shooting, fishing, horse riding, white water rafting, mountain biking, sailing and, of course, walking and climbing in our glorious mountain countryside.
Access to the rest of Snowdonia is easy and the beautiful lakes of Vyrnwy and Bala are a spectacular 30 minute drive away over Hellfire Pass (‘Bylch y Groes’), the highest road pass in Wales.
The highest peak outside of the main Snowdonia mountain range, Aran Fawddwy, is located a short distance away and famous Cader Idris can be reached after a scenic 30 minute drive.
The historic market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau are a 13 mile drive away and the unspoilt coastal towns of Aberdovey and Barmouth can be reached after a scenic 40 minute journey.
The local village of Dinas Mawddwy offers guests access to nearby eating at the Red Lion Pub or the historic Buckley Pines hotel. A little further up the road at Mallywd can be found the Brigands Inn, recently voted the Welsh Pub of the Year.
“'Verdant Majesty’ are the words our son used to describe this area. The cottage is delightful, the views and gardens so beautiful and peaceful that you never want to leave. It has been a little slice of Heaven.”
- Todd, Carolyn and Christian, U.S.A.
